What is the offence of “Attempted Assassination of a politician” , shooting him/her, but not killing him/her.
Under what section of what act of the South African Law, can such an person be charged with ?

A charge of attempted murder would be brought and prosecuted. This is a common law offence and the Criminal Procedure Act – Act 51 of 1977 would be used to prosecute the offender. The fact that the victim is a politician would merely be regarded as an aggravating circumstance.
