Bank Account for Foreign Nationals
Hi,
I’m a Zimbabwean national living in SA on a relatives visa. Because I don’t have a work -or student permit, neither FNB or Nedbank would issue me a bank account with a debit card. I then tried Mukuru but they wanted proof of income and proof of residency (I can’t get a utility bill). A friend of mine mentioned AptraPay accounts. Has anyone tried this company before?
Hi ZimSpouse,
Yes, AptraPay (http://www.aptra.co.za) should suit your needs. Aptra is associated with Standardbank and Mastercard. As far as I know, you only need proof of identity (e.g. your passport), but no residence permit or proof of address and income is required. There are restrictions though on the maximum amount that is available on your debit card at any given time.
Good luck!
